Holy No-Poo Curls

Hola curly girls!   I've been going strong with the curly girl no-poo. The same products that are listed in the previous post are getting the job done. I usually wash with my conditioners every 2 - 3 days and this is my fourth week.  Here's an update....

^^^ May I point out the
 hidden ringlets here.
There have been some days that I feel my hair is a strange texture but it hasn't been oily or too incredibly frizzy (but I've learned the more gel, the better)

Other than that I am enjoying the results.  Here's to another two weeks...

That's right ...I've gone no-poo

Well I'm two and a half weeks into the no-poo curly girl method.

What's this no-poo I speak of?  Click here....

It's the absolute go-to for the curly girl method.  She breaks down everything. Or find her on youtube waterlily716

Curly girl No-Poo is a method of cleansing, conditioning, and styling curly hair.

"If there is a wave there's a curl."

The big kicker is no sulfates and no silicones in your hair products.

That's right no shampoo.  No sulfates. No silicones.

Sudsy shampoo hair... not here.
So my beloved John Frieda hair serum... out the window.
My favorite bumble and bumble/mousse concoction... not happening.
Mass amounts of Pantene Hairspray... no more.

Want to know what is happening...

A lot of conditioners and some gel.  All Curly Girl Approved Products.

Suave coconut (Target $0.98) as a co-wash.  Co-wash is a method of applying the conditioner to the scalp and giving yourself a scalp massage, loosening product buildup and such; not really concentrating on the ends.

Nature's Gate Tea Tree Conditioner (Target $9.98) as a co-wash/conditioner.  I use this on my scalp and throughout the rest of my hair. One of the issues girls experience in the beginning stages of the "no-poo method" is a oiliness until your hair adjusts.  I have been able to avoid that so far, and I'm thanking the tea tree for that.

Generic Value Products Biolage Conditioning Balm ( Sally's $5.99) as a deep conditioner. I load my hair with this jazz for about 5 minutes.

Always rinse with cool water.
Never use a brush on curly hair.  If you can, just detangle with you fingers.

Kinky Curly Leave-In Conditioner ( Target $7.99) Concentrate on my ends with this good stuff and work my way up.

Goddess Curls Gel (Target $9.99) This was a little steep for my budget but I really have enjoyed the product.

La Bella Gel (Target $1.99) Like being in 9th grade all over again.

After you put in the gel, you do this crazy "plopping thing"

Leave your hair in this crazy turban thing for about 30 minutes.  By allowing your hair to partially dry like, your curls keep better form.

These are my pre-curly girl photos....

Pre-CG. Sulfates, silicones and all

One week...

1 wk sans silicones and sulfates  Definitely my curliest day so far
1 wk sans silicones and sulfates  Definitely my curliest day so far

Two week sans shampoo.

I haven't had to do the stinky "pickle hair" (washing with vinegar and baking soda).  I haven't had an extreme build-up or oiliness that I was warned about.

One thing is for sure, my hair is definitely conditioned but still adjusting so
here's to another two weeks!

Check out some of these awesome CG before and afters!
